Worship Night

This month we had an outdoor worship night at UNT with the many other college ministries that serve Denton! It was so sweet to see so many students come to praise God and give testimony to what he has done in their lives. For me, it was so encouraging to see how God is using so many different ministries to accomplish the work that not one of us by ourselves could do.

Pizza Theology

Every semester we have an event called “Pizza Theology” where we either bring in a speaker or have our pastors speak on a topic in great depth with a break in the middle for pizza (because who doesn’t love pizza). I love this event because it starts to get the students thinking about larger topics in a way that gives them space to leave with so many questions to explore and talk about with each other. This semester Rikk Watts came and spoke to our students on the book of John and explored the themes and the larger question of “Who is Jesus?”. I talked with several students afterwards and their curiosity was on fire and they felt like they understood John in a way that pointed them to who Jesus actually is.

Sweet moments

I feel so blessed that God has given me so many reasons for joy this month. My family celebrated Thanksgiving a bit early with friends and I was able to invite a student whose family lives too far to go home to for Thanksgiving break. I loved getting to share my life more with her and she felt blessed by good food and people who cared for her instantly. My family took her in as their own and I think that is a picture of heaven!

I also got to visit with a girl who used to be in our ministry and in my Core several years ago and hear how God is moving through her in her life now!

I got to have a sweet conversation with a student ministry who is relearning who Jesus really is and how deeply he truly knows and loves her. She shared how whenever she reads a verse that talks about how great Jesus’ love is for her she has no response but to break down in tears. Being so known and still so loved feels confusing and moves her to tears. That feels deeply relatable!

There are so many other stories from this month! I pray you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and God meets you in this season with rest and fills you will joy! If you would like for me to be praying for you in any way please let me know!

Prayer Requests:

  • Please be praying for the students as they head into their final exams (and the stress that usually comes with that) and their Christmas break!

  • Pray for our Keep FOCUS Growing fundraiser. We are at 15% raised and our goal every year is to be fully fundraised by December 1st. We’re praying through being on more community colleges in the next few years as well as using these funds so that we can continue to function where we are already placed. The details for the fundraiser are below if you or anyone you may know want to learn more!
